Wolves technical director Matt Jackson said David Moller Wolfe’s deadline-day loan move to Bundesliga side Hamburg was the best outcome for all concerned.

The Norway international left-back has joined on a deal including a £12.5 million option to buy, with Wolves to receive a £500,000 loan fee.

Moller Wolfe arrived from AZ Alkmaar last summer and has been behind Hugo Bueno in the pecking order so far this season.

The decision reflected a need to balance minutes for two strong left backs after the defender’s successful World Cup and after Cesar assessed the squad, while also protecting value. Regular Bundesliga football was considered the right solution.
