Kieran Trippier has verbally agreed a two-year deal with an option of a third at Wolves, with the 35-year-old set to become their first summer addition, according to ExpressAndStar.com.

The club are understood to have seen off rival interest, and Rob Edwards was integral to talks, with the deal set to be completed when the La Liga winner returns from holiday.

The 54-cap England international follows news that Brazilian international Andre has committed for next season. Wolves have also been linked with a move for former striker Raul Jimenez.

Supporters reacted with excitement, with several calling it the ‘best signing in years’. Others described it as a strong start to the window and some suggested he could be made captain.

There was praise for owners Fosun too, despite previous criticism over decisions that led to relegation. Fans also highlighted Trippier’s World Cup semi-final goal for England and the prospect of a Brazil international in the Championship.
