Andre has signed a new four-year contract at Wolves, a move that surprised supporters with the club preparing for Championship football next season. The midfielder joined for £18.5m in 2024, and the deal was confirmed on Friday.
According to ExpressAndStar.com, early conversations have taken place with former striker Raul Jimenez over a possible return, and Wolves have also held talks with out-of-contract defender Kieran Trippier. Those developments followed Jimenez signalling in an interview that he could come back.
Back in April, Andre indicated on a gaming platform that he would happily remain for three to five more years and that he loves the club. Many still expected him to move on this summer.
Head coach Rob Edwards and chairman Nathan Shi said Andre had been in discussions about staying, while technical director Matt Jackson described him as a man of his word.
Fans reacted with surprise, asking how the club had managed it and admitting they did not expect the announcement. Many saw it as a significant early statement before next season and praised Andre for keeping his word.
Trippier, 35, will become a free agent in the coming weeks when his Newcastle United contract expires, and the Magpies have confirmed he will leave and not sign a new deal. Wolves are planning a summer rebuild, with departures likely and early free-agent additions being explored.
