Transfer talk is accelerating across the Midlands, with Wolves, West Brom, Forest and Villa central to early summer moves.

West Brom face a fight to land Falkirk striker Barney Stewart after a seven-figure bid was rejected, The Daily Record claims. Albion have seen multiple offers turned down and may return, with Celtic, Oxford United and Lincoln City also monitoring him after 10 SPL goals.

Joao Gomes, long expected to depart, is heavily linked with Atletico Madrid, with talks said to be under way and a fee of around £39m mooted. It is suggested only a few details remain before any switch.

Wolves could profit from a sell-on if former winger Chiquinho leaves Alverca. Linked with Sporting CP and named among two targets, his exit could trigger a payment back to Molineux.

Former Wolves boss Vitor Pereira, axed after an awful start to the season then hired by Nottingham Forest, reportedly wants Ladislav Krejci and Mateus Mane. He helped Forest to survival and the Conference League last four. Krejci’s loan is set to become permanent after he hit the appearance threshold, while Mane’s breakthrough has fuelled interest.

At Aston Villa, Unai Emery is said to be determined to keep Youri Tielemans, a key part of his plans. Despite reported interest from England, Emery is prepared to block summer approaches.
