Wolves were thrashed 4-0 at West Ham, a result that all but ended their Premier League survival hopes.
According to Molineux.news, Rob Edwards’ side needed three points after a 25-day break, but produced a shocking away display.
Konstantinos Mavropanos struck on 42 minutes from a corner that replays suggested should have been a goal kick.
After the interval Wolves collapsed, Taty Castellanos scoring twice in two minutes, before Mavropanos headed a fourth from another corner.
Player ratings were brutal. Jose Sa scored four after uncertain moments on Castellanos’ finishes, while Yerson Mosquera took three and was booked for asking for a booking, his 10th caution bringing a two-game ban.
Santiago Bueno and Ladislav Krejci each received four, and Jackson Tchatchoua three after failing to stop Jarrod Bowen’s cross for the opener.
Andre was five, Joao Gomes four after VAR judged no foul before the third, and Angel Gomes four after hitting the post from a free-kick. Hugo Bueno and Jean-Ricner Bellegarde earned six, both withdrawn on the hour. Mateus Mane was three after losing the ball for West Ham’s second, with the other substitutes making little impact.
Supporters had dared to believe a great escape was possible, but even the most optimistic may now have to accept the Championship awaits next season.
