Wolves eased into a lighter day three of pre-season in Portugal as the heat climbed, with training still sharp and competitive. According to ExpressAndStar.com, the players’ work featured reduced running after double sessions on Tuesday.
Late on Tuesday there was time to watch Spain beat France in the World Cup semi-finals, then some final prep before an early return to the training ground. With clear skies, most onlookers again hunted for shade.
Wednesday began with stretching and light jogging, followed by small-sided games to spark intensity. Game-based drills focused on attacking phases, width and creating overloads. There was less tactical instruction than the day before, but the work remained technical and focused.
Senior figures observed from the sidelines, including chairman Nathan Shi, who has flown out to Portugal to be around the squad, and Cesar Peixoto. After the session, Toti Gomes gave an engaging interview centred on training, first impressions of Peixoto and the club's new signings Kieran Trippier, Raul Jimenez and Rafiki Said.
Leaving the private area towards the public section, a few children asked if the reporter was a player, a moment met with a wry joke about Wolves’ desperation if that were true. Back at the apartment, notes were reviewed and plans made for more interviews in the coming days. The evening ended with England against Argentina in a huge semi-final, nerves eased by a little liquid courage.
