Day one of Wolves pre-season tour coverage brought a smooth journey to the Algarve and an evening spent preparing for a busy week on the ground.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, the day started with a four am alarm and a trip to Birmingham airport, where expected queues at the Jet2 bag drop and security proved manageable, taking 45 minutes in total.

After a quick Popeyes breakfast at six am, the two hours and 50 minutes to Faro passed in snatches of sleep. On landing, an Irish passport helped avoid delays at passport control, which can lengthen when several flights arrive together.

A shuttle bus led to the hire car pick-up, and a free upgrade from a Fiat Panda to an automatic Opel Corsa eased a first experience of driving on the opposite side of the road, ending with a safe arrival at the apartment.

The base is a seaside town in the Algarve within driving distance of Wolves’ training camp, with supplies bought for the week and work brought forward in the evening.

Across the week, the series on Fosun’s 10 years owning Wolves continues, plus exclusive insight into Cesar Peixoto’s training sessions, along with interviews, daily videos and this diary as players are put through their paces and prepare for life back in the Championship in the 2026/27 season.
