Wolves eased through day three of pre-season in Portugal after Tuesday’s double sessions, with a lighter programme of small-sided games and attacking patterns in fierce heat.
According to ExpressAndStar.com, players began with stretching and light jogging, far less running than the day before, then moved into scenario work using width and creating overloads. There was less tactical instruction than Tuesday, but the drills remained technical and demanding. The hierarchy watched on, including chairman Nathan Shi, who has flown to Portugal, and Cesar Peixoto.
Late on Tuesday there was time to watch Spain beat France in the World Cup semi-finals, followed by late-night preparation for the next day.
After Wednesday’s session there was an interview with Toti Gomes, covering training, first impressions of Peixoto and the club’s new signings Kieran Trippier, Raul Jimenez and Rafiki Said.
Leaving the training ground, a few children who had glimpsed the session from afar asked if the reporter was a player, a brief ego boost before heading back to review the day and plan further interviews.
The night ended with the huge semi-final of England against Argentina, watched with plenty of nerves and a little liquid courage.
