According to ExpressAndStar.com, Wolves have a verbal agreement to sign Kieran Trippier on a two-year deal with an option for a third, subject to a medical after his post-season holiday, and intend to make him their first summer addition.

The 35-year-old is a free agent after his final season with Newcastle United. Head coach Rob Edwards has been integral to talks amid competition from clubs in England and abroad, including some Premier League interest.

Wolves have promised to be aggressive in the market and want experience and leadership. Trippier fits that brief, having captained a number of sides.

The club also have interest in bringing striker Raul Jimenez back as they rebalance for a Championship promotion push. The agreement follows Andre signing a new deal to 2030 and committing to stay with Wolves in the Championship.

With Trippier expected to arrive, right-back Jackson Tchatchoua is expected to depart after struggling for form following his £10 million move last year. Joao Gomes is in talks to join Atletico Madrid, and several others will be moved on as part of a reset after a dreadful top flight campaign.

Trippier came through Manchester City, then joined Burnley before four years at Spurs, where he broke into England’s senior team. He won La Liga with Atletico Madrid in 2020/21 and the 2024/25 Carabao Cup with Newcastle, earned 54 caps from 2017 to 2024, and scored his only England goal with a free-kick against Croatia in the 2018 World Cup semi-final.
