Wolves will not reinstate The Liquidator at Molineux, the club said in a statement.

The track had already been dropped over concerns about offensive chanting, with some supporters historically using it to target rivals West Brom.

Debate was reopened when chairman Nathan Shi promised a review to fans after a significant section of the fanbase pushed for its return.

Following talks with the Molineux Stadium Safety Advisory Group (SAG), the club has maintained its original stance and will keep the song out of the pre-match schedule.

The decision followed consideration of the song’s history, supporter views and club responsibilities on behaviour, safety and governance, alongside a markedly changed regulatory landscape over the past two decades.

With recent FA sanctions for mass discriminatory chanting in mind, the club judged it inappropriate to bring back a song that has historically prompted mass offensive chanting at Molineux.

The move is framed around providing a welcoming matchday environment for everyone while meeting expected standards.

The decision comes even as Albion and Chelsea continue to use the song on matchdays.
