According to reports, Wolves have joined numerous sides in the race for £10m-rated Brighton winger Amario Cozier-Duberry before the window concludes

Wolves are eyeing up further deals in the remainder of the summer transfer window as Cesar Peixoto bids to bolster his squad for a Premier League promotion push, which has seen the Old Gold register their interest in signing sought-after Brighton and Hove Albion winger Amario Cozier-Duberry amid a host of stiff competition elsewhere.

Peixoto's side have undertaken a surprisingly-quiet window after returning to the Championship for the first time since Wolves won the 2017/18 second-tier title under Nuno Espirito Santo, with just three new reinforcements arriving at Molineux in Rafiki Said, Kieran Trippier and, of course, former talisman Raul Jimenez.

There have only been minimal departures in the wake of relegation, too, although you do get the impression that Wolves' activity is poised to intensify in the closing stages of the summer months.

With further additions perhaps required if new boss Peixoto is to match expectations and ensure that his outfit compete for promotion, a new update has revealed that the Black Country side are now in the race for an eight-figure Brighton deal alongside rival clubs in the EFL and beyond.

Wolves join West Ham and Rangers in £10m Brighton, Cozier-Duberry transfer race

This fresh development comes courtesy of an update from Liam Keen of the Express & Star, who disclosed Wolves' emerging interest in sealing a potential move for Cozier-Duberry via his X account on Tuesday afternoon.

According to Keen, Wanderers are now exploring a deal to swoop for the young winger's widely-admired services in spite of fierce competition, although other targets are also being considered for that area of the pitch as Peixoto strives to reinforce the wide options at his disposal before the window is up.

Cozier-Duberry enjoyed a stunning loan spell in League One with Bolton Wanderers last season to help Steven Schumacher's side gain promotion through the play-offs before returning to parent club Brighton, who could sanction a permanent departure from Sussex if their freshly-revealed asking price is met in the coming days and weeks.

This update arrives after journalist Pete O'Rourke reported that Brighton have set a £10 million asking price for Cozier-Duberry after Scottish giants Rangers fell short with an unsuccessful £7 million bid for the highly-rated 21-year-old, who has also been linked with the likes of promotion rivals West Ham this summer.

Reports have indicated that Cozier-Duberry, formerly among Arsenal's brightest youth prodigies before joining Brighton in the summer of 2024, has fielded loan interest from a number of Championship clubs, though Brighton may look to sanction his exit permanently at the right price.

For now, at least, it remains unclear exactly what sort of deal Wolves are exploring, yet what is known is that Peixoto will face no shortage of competition in his efforts to lure the talented wide-man to the Black Country.

Wolves fans react as Brighton, Cozier-Duberry transfer deal eyed

Wolves' interest in Cozier-Duberry has been met with a mixed reception from the Molineux faithful, with many fans disgruntled at the fact that the club are only "exploring" deals at this late stage despite having the whole summer to strengthen Peixoto's squad with only three new additions in through the door right now.

That's why this fan is left encouraged by his side's pursuit of Cozier-Duberry, but believes that signings of this ilk should have been worked on much earlier.

Similar sentiment was echoed by another supporter, who simply urged the club to get this deal over the line given that Brighton's demands have been made clear.

There's a real sense of urgency among the Wolves fanbase at this moment in time, which is understandable when you consider how active other promotion rivals have been in the market this summer and just how visible the side's shortcomings were in a frustrating 2-2 draw with relegation-tipped Blackburn Rovers at home to kick-start the 2026/27 campaign on Friday evening.

It's because of that, of course, that this one supporter believes up to four or five incomings are needed before deadline day comes and passes, with impressive ex-Birmingham and Leicester City midfielder Jordan James having also been strongly-linked with Wolves in recent times - and the Welsh international's situation has been questioned by fans as they continue to bang the drum for new incomings.

Brighton's Amario Cozier-Duberry would be an exciting signing for Wolves

If Wolves are able to steal a march on Cozier-Duberry's range of admirers and bring him to Molineux, this is certainly a deal in which the Championship new boys could strike serious gold.

Some will question a £10 million figure for a player who has only excelled at League One level after previously struggling for regular minutes on loan with Blackburn Rovers in the second-tier two seasons ago.

However, all who watched Cozier-Duberry in full throttle for Bolton last time out, alongside those more familiar with his days as a burgeoning youth prospect at Arsenal, will testify to the height of his footballing ceiling and both the immediate and long-term upside Wolves could gain through his signature.

Most at home on the right-hand side, the winger lit up League One by weighing in with nine goals and 10 assists from 34 appearances despite missing more than two months through injury.

Cozier-Duberry's eye for the spectacular is particularly remarkable, with five of the England youth international's nine league strikes coming from outside the area, and long-range curled efforts after cutting inside on his stronger left-foot have become perhaps the defining hallmark of his game.

He brings a huge creative and goalscoring outlet from the right flank and is both capable of hogging the byline and beating his man on the outside or drifting inside to create or finish chances as an inverted winger, meaning the wide-man's skillset and low centre of gravity can certainly translate and thrive at a higher level.

Indeed, Cozier-Duberry would offer a new dimension and sense of X-Factor to Wolves' attack and the Old Gold could pull off a real statement of intent by beating rivals to a deal this summer.
