Wolves sign Jordan James on loan from Rennes with option to buy | OneFootball

Championship rivals Wolves have secured Wales midfielder Jordan James on a season-long loan from Rennes, with an option to make the move permanent next summer.

As reported by Daily Echo, Saints are prioritising a central midfielder and were briefly linked with James this summer.

The 22-year-old impressed on loan at Leicester City last season, scoring 11 goals and supplying four assists in 34 appearances. He was named the Championship’s Young Player of the Season and also claimed Leicester’s supporters’, players’ and young player awards despite a difficult campaign.

Hereford-born James came through Birmingham City’s academy, making 105 senior appearances before joining Ligue 1 side Rennes in 2024. He has 26 Wales caps and has scored one international goal.

Wolves executive chairman Nathan Shi said James had been a leading target, adding: “He is a talented young player, is homegrown and knows the Championship well, having done so well last season.”
