Wolves, Stevenage and Middlesbrough advance to Carabao Cup second round

Wolverhampton Wanderers, Stevenage and Middlesbrough have all confirmed their spots in the second round of the Carabao Cup this evening.

Wolves cruised past Port Vale at Molineux with a 3-0 win, in their first appearance at this stage of the competition since 2017, thanks to goals from Adam Armstrong, André and Fer López.

Stevenage edged out Wycombe Wanderers in a trip to Adams Park thanks to a 95th-minute winner from Josh Magennis, to get their competitive season off to the perfect start.

Middlesbrough and Will Lankshear will take the headlines this evening, however, as the youngster’s overhead kick was the difference between the North East side and Wrexham AFC at the Riverside.

With four games played in the opening round so far, there are still 31 left to play as 62 teams battle it out for their spot in the 2nd round draw next week.
