Wolves are among the Championship clubs assessing Sunderland goalkeeper Anthony Patterson, alongside Wrexham and Millwall, with Sunderland prepared to consider bids of at least £eight million, according to Sky Sports.
The Old Gold are rebuilding after relegation from the Premier League, with Rob Edwards expecting several departures as they shape a Championship-ready squad.
Patterson has slipped down the pecking order at Sunderland and spent the second half of last season on loan at Millwall. With Robin Roefs in place and Melker Ellborg adding further competition, an exit appears likely.
Wolves need a new goalkeeper, with Jose Sa having hinted he will depart this summer. Millwall could be the strongest competition given Patterson’s recent loan there.
Patterson offers attributes that Sa has not consistently shown, notably comfort playing out from the back. Sunderland’s Simon Moore has previously described him as calm and composed with the ball and praised his handling, adding that he can play at the top.
