Wolves will move visiting supporters to the Stan Cullis Quadrant for selected Molineux fixtures this season to increase home backing. The arrangement has already been used for the opening Championship fixture against Blackburn Rovers.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, each switch will be assessed case by case, dependent on safety considerations and approval from the Safety Advisory Group and police.

It was not implemented for recent matches with Stoke City and West Brom, when away fans stayed in the Steve Bull Lower. The club has greater flexibility this year because the Championship’s minimum away allocation is smaller than in the Premier League.

Licensed standing in the Quadrant has also increased the number of usable seats in that area. Moving away supporters from the Steve Bull Lower has long been considered by successive head coaches, including Cesar Peixoto, because of the prominence of visiting fans along the touchline.

Several fixtures have already been earmarked for the Quadrant, subject to agreement from the Safety Advisory Group and police. Others will be decided nearer the time, factoring in expected demand, previous behaviour and the sporting context.

More than 2,500 Albion supporters filled the Steve Bull Lower for Sunday’s Black Country derby, which Wolves won 1-0.
