Two prime ministers are set to attend Everton v Wolves in the Carabao Cup third round this evening, with British Prime Minister Andy Burnham due at the Hill Dickinson Stadium alongside his Canadian counterpart Mark Carney.
According to ExpressAndStar.com, the pair met earlier before the game and Burnham’s entourage has been seen around the ground, with both expected to take their seats for the tie.
Both leaders support Everton, with Burnham a lifelong fan and season-ticket holder who has followed the club since the 1970s when his duties allow.
The visit follows Burnham briefly taking compassionate leave after the death of his father, Roy, on Monday following a battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
On the pitch, Wolves will look to spring an upset against the Premier League side and reach the fourth round. Cesar Peixoto has made several changes for the tie, which comes just days before Sunday’s Black Country Derby against West Brom.
