Wolves are considering a summer move for James Tavernier, 34, who will leave Rangers at the end of the season, according to ExpressAndStar.com.
The right-back is out of contract and has confirmed his departure after 11 years.
Tavernier joined Rangers in 2015 and has worn the armband for the past eight years, winning the Scottish Premiership, Scottish Cup and League Cup. He also led the side to the 2022 Europa League final, where they lost on penalties to Eintracht Frankfurt.
Renowned for his scoring from full-back, he has 144 goals in 563 Rangers appearances.
In a social media statement, he described the decision as difficult, said the club has meant a great deal to him and that captaincy since 2018 is a source of pride. He added that the season is not over, he will keep giving everything in pursuit of the title and, while ready for a new challenge, his focus remains on finishing strongly.
Wolves are assessing multiple options to strengthen for next season and view Tavernier’s experience and leadership as potentially valuable.
