Wolves work on Bertrand Traore deal as Bueno could depart | OneFootball

Wolves are working on a move for free agent winger Bertrand Traore, while defender Santiago Bueno could still leave, according to ExpressAndStar.com.

The Uruguay international remained at Molineux beyond the English transfer deadline but may yet move abroad, with several foreign windows still open. Peixoto wants a right-sided winger and has made Traore his leading target.

Wolves are already at the Championship limit of 25 senior players, so a departure would be needed to create space for the Burkina Faso international. Bueno is seen as the most likely to make way. Ladislav Krejci is expected to stay, and goalkeeper Jose Sa has signed a contract extension.

Speaking before the Traore interest surfaced, Peixoto said he did not know whether Bueno would remain. He outlined a plan to add one more player, a winger with the right characteristics, and noted a post-deadline signing is possible.

He wants two players per position, targeting four wingers, two on each flank, to maintain intensity across 90 minutes.

Traore, 30, made 55 Premier League appearances in three years at Villa after a £17 million move from Lyon in 2020. He featured in 12 top-flight matches for Sunderland last season, scoring one goal.

Peixoto also defended a quieter window. The biggest change came in the dugout as he replaced Rob Edwards, while two of the six signings were goalkeepers and £7.7 million on winger Rafiki Said was the only significant fee.

He said he is satisfied with the refresh, citing the arrivals of two keepers, a left-back, Jordan James, Sean Neave and Rafiki, while stressing contracts limit a full overhaul. He believes the group now show greater quality.
