Cesar Peixoto says Ladislav Krejci is focused and ready to play after the transfer window closed. ExpressAndStar.com reports the Czech could make his first Championship appearance of the season in Sunday’s derby at Blues, and the head coach reiterated he will stay at Molineux.
Krejci was among those expected to leave and spent time sidelined while his future was uncertain. Peixoto said a minor injury and the market slowed matters, but the 27-year-old trained throughout and is available when required.
Signed permanently from Girona earlier in the summer, he was one of the few to emerge with credit from Wolves’ relegation season. He is understood to have shown reluctance to play in the Championship when West Ham enquired late in the window.
Peixoto, who stresses player welfare, said he held many conversations with Krejci and others. He now views the defender as an option because he stayed and is in good fitness, and he highlighted the need for unity in a tough division.
Sunday’s trip to east Birmingham is the second of four straight away matches and the clubs’ first meeting since 2017/18. Deadline-day signing Ghislain Konan is training alone and is unlikely to feature until after the international break, though Sean Neave could be involved.
Peixoto said derbies matter greatly to supporters and called for the same backing as in recent games. He added that Wolves want to win for the fans and for themselves.
