A derby is always a derby, regardless of the table, form book and previous results: 90 minutes to face head on with pride and courage to achieve maxiumum satisfaction. The AC Milan Women's regular season ends at home, at the PUMA House of Football, against Inter. It is the last match before a break, which will end with the Coppa Italia semi-final against Roma and then the Relegation Round. But time to think about the future will come further down the line. For now, this will be the twelfth derby in Women's Serie A history between the two teams; here is our Match Preview.
LATEST FROM PUMA HOUSE OF FOOTBALL Avenge the narrow defeat in the reverse fixture and build on the great comeback success midweek away at Sampdoria: for the Rossonere, the derby will divide two moments of the season and will have no bearing on season outcomes. It is a game to look for maxiumum spoils, starting from the good things seen against the Doriane to prepare for the final stage of the season in the best possible way: in particular, Chanté Dompig's first Rossonere double and Silvia Rubio Ávila's first goal for the Club. Only Laurent is missing due to suspension, with captain Bergamaschi and Piga, both recently called up to the national team together with Laura Giuliani, one booking away from a ban.
The Rossonere squad: Babb, Copetti, Giuliani; Bergamaschi, Fusetti, Guagni, Mesjasz, Piga; Cernoia, Dubcová, Grimshaw, Mascarello, Rubio Ávila, Soffia, Vigilucci; Arrigoni, Asllani, Dompig, Ijeh, Marinelli, Stašková.
LATEST FROM INTER Fourth on 26 points, the Nerazzurre's form is rather inconsistent: on the one hand, they are the only team to have beaten current title-holders Roma, and have had good away successes against Napoli (3-2) and Pomigliano (6-2); on the other hand, home defeats in 2024 against Sassuolo, Como Women and midweek with Juventus. Guarino's girls are looking for points to keep their pursuit of a difficult Champions League place (13 points behind 3rd place) and have particularly relied on new signing Lina Magull recently. The German midfielder, former Bayern Munich player, has already scored five goals since arriving in Italy and is second only to Cambiaghi among the Nerazzurre scorers, who provided the match-winning goal in this season's first encounter at the Arena Civica. The only player who is one booking away from a suspension is Karchouni.
