Ole Werner:

  • On the opposition's defensive playstyle:"The opposition didn't make it easy for us, since they played very defensively. We did have chances, but we should've taken them in the first half. Still, we defended very well and were solid in terms of our structure."
  • On how the game developed in the second half:"After the break, Bremen looked pumped up for a bit, but then we managed to bring the game back under our control."
  • On Assan Ouedraogo's performance:"Assan had two good chances in the first half. He's an unbelievable talent. He's nice because he never assumes that he's going to score and takes responsibility on the pitch."
  • On bouncing back from the defeat against Hoffenheim:"It's a great feeling to be back and get three points after the loss to Hoffenheim. It shows that, as a team, we can work with a lot of focus when we don't have a lot of time to train."

Assan Ouedraogo:

  1. On his amazing week:"I'd say that I've had more or less the perfect week: First I scored for the national team, and now I've scored again today - it doesn't get much better than that."
  2. On his goal:"I don't care what foot I score with. Today, I tried a few times with my right and it didn't work out, so I tried shooting with my left - with great results."
  3. On the difficulty of the goal:"It was pretty tough - the opposition defended with a lot of discipline. We stayed patient, and then a gap opened up and I went on a good run - I always notice chances like that and look to make the most of them."
  4. On the role of the younger players and the coach:"The coach gives us all the confidence to show what we can do. No matter who's out there on the pitch, everyone gives their all for the other players. At the moment, things are working really well."

Peter Gulacsi:

  • On the flow of the game:"From the very first minute we controlled the game. Bremen chose to play slightly more passively than we were expecting, but they stayed compact. It wasn't easy to create chances, though I think we did well in the first half. The second half was a bit more open, but at the end of the day we dominated the game - exactly how we wanted it to be."
  • On Assan Ouedraogo's performance:"He was really energetic again, picked up the ball from deep and has a lot of pace on the ball. He adds a different dimension to our game. Even in the first half he had two or three really threatening opportunities, and his ball control was fantastic. he offers a lot to the team, and we're happy with that."
  • On his 350th appearance for Leipzig:"I'm unbelievably proud. To be honest, I didn't know that it was that many before the game. To me, it's an impressive number for a special club, and I'm over the moon about it."

Christoph Baumgartner:

  • On the game:"We were a bit passive and failed to take the lead despite having good chances. After the break, Bremen looked dangerous for the first 10 to 15 minutes, but then we scored a spectacular goal through Assan and took the game by the scruff of the net. The second goal sealed the win."
  • On Assan Ouedraogo's performance:"At the moment, he's in very, very good form but it's not down to luck. He's a great guy who works a lot and is fit - he's pure quality. In the first two years here, he had a tough time, partly due to injuries. It's even better that he's on a roll now, playing for the national team and scoring goals."
