Nigeria dominated Gabon 4-1 after extra time in the playoff semi-final for the 2026 World Cup, thanks to goals from Akor Adams, Chidera Ejuke, and a brace from Victor Osimhen. It was a promising victory, but the real test still lies ahead for the Super Eagles.

Chelle emphasized the identity and discipline he has been building with the Super Eagles since taking charge:
We are trying to create our own identity. These players understand what I want and are improving mentally and technically.
