Speaking in Abidjan during the FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour, the FIFA legend addressed the media. The two-time Champions League winner first acknowledged and praised the progress of African football: “The quality is there, the belief is there,” he remarked.“Just as Morocco reached the semi-finals, Senegal can do the same. Ivory Coast as well,” he added.

Ivory Coast is Marcel Desailly’s top pick: “Now we hope that, since nine African teams are already in the running, one of them will reach the final. Maybe Ivory Coast, even though I love Ghana. I think Ivory Coast has the potential to make the final...,” concluded the former Marseille, Chelsea, and AC Milan player.
