Tunisie
Tunisia also faces the risk of landing in a group of death during the 2026 World Cup draw. After an impressive run in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, Tunisia could find themselves facing teams of similar caliber next June when the tournament kicks off. The Carthage Eagles are set in Pot 3, alongside several other African teams in the draw (Algeria, Egypt, South Africa, and Ivory Coast). The remaining African nations in the other three pots cannot be drawn together, as only European teams can share a group. This rules out a potential fiery clash against Morocco or Senegal.
Pot 1 will be the most closely watched, as it could pit Tunisia against Messi's Argentina, the reigning world champions, Lamine Yamal's Spain, the latest European champions, or France. A reunion with Brazil is also a real possibility.
Pot 2 features several European teams to be wary of: Switzerland, Austria—with a golden generation—and above all Croatia, as Luka Modric prepares for what could be his final tournament for his country. From other confederations, Japan is never an easy draw at a World Cup. Pot 4, of course, is the least daunting, but beware—sides like Saudi Arabia and New Zealand are starting to rack up experience in this competition.
The draw for the 2026 World Cup will take place on December 5.
