France beat Morocco 2-0 on Thursday night to reach the World Cup semi-finals for the third successive tournament, after 2018 and 2022.

Even with France in such control that the feat can look routine, it remains a remarkable achievement. According to L'Équipe, only three nations have made the semi-finals in three consecutive World Cups.

Germany have done it twice. First in 1982, 1986 and 1990, then in 2002, 2006, 2010 and 2014.

Brazil also reached the last four in 1994, 1998 and 2002.

Attention now turns to attempting to reach a third straight final.
