Much to Oliver Glasner’s dismay, Adam Wharton has been tipped for a Crystal Palace exit in 2026.

The midfield starlet has been on the radar of a host of top European clubs since breaking onto the scene with the Eagles last season.

However, a move was essentially ruled out by the Palace board over the summer when they were preparing to facilitate Eberechi Eze’s exit and, until the final hour of the window, Marc Guehi’s.

As such, Wharton stayed put at Selhurst Park for 2025/2026, and you can’t imagine they’d be open to a mid-season sale, either.

Who’s interested in Adam Wharton?

It’s thought the time will come when the ‘exceptional’ 21-year-old parts ways with Palace for ventures new, especially given the suitors that may come in for him in the coming year.

Manchester United are firm admirers of Wharton, while Real Madrid and Liverpool have also been credited with interest on numerous occasions.

Having only signed with the London outfit in February 2024, he is tied down to a contract until 2029, meaning Palace will have the upper hand in any potential negotiations that arise – and they’ll be keen to get their money’s worth.

When might Wharton be sold?

From Fabrizio Romano’s point of view, he thinks the England international is most likely to be on the move after next year’s World Cup has concluded.

Wharton has earned one senior cap for the Three Lions thus far and will be hoping to add to his tally before the tournament gets underway, whilst proving to Thomas Tuchel throughout the campaign why he deserves a spot.

“I think if something happens, it’s going to be after the World Cup, but for sure, now, the focus of the player is on Crystal Palace,” said Romano (via GiveMeSport).

“He didn’t want to move this summer, and he was not pushing for a move, because he’s fully focused on Palace.

“Then in 2026 I would not be surprised if something happens, because Premier League clubs, but also clubs in Spain, including Real Madrid, are monitoring the boy, so let’s see what’s going to happen.”
