Wout Faes is set to return to Leicester City this summer after Monaco decided against activating the purchase option in his loan, Nice-Martin reports.
The 28-year-old moved to Stade Louis II in January on a deal to the season’s end, with a permanent fee believed to be about €7.5m.
Faes made 16 appearances for Monaco, during which they kept only three clean sheets. He has one year left on his Leicester contract.
The decision is a blow for City and the player, with both parties keen to part ways permanently. The prospect of him staying for a League One campaign appears remote.
Reports in Türkiye add a potential exit route, as TRT Spor claims Fenerbahce have enquired about the terms to sign Faes. The Istanbul club are said to be keen to strengthen Ismail Kartal’s defence for next season.
