Wrexham are interested in Southampton's Adam Armstrong as they look to bring in an attacker ahead of the deadline.
Wrexham are interested in Southampton’s Adam Armstrong as they look to add more firepower to Phil Parkinson’s squad in the January window ahead of a push for promotion to the Premier League.
The Red Dragons have enjoyed a remarkable rise under their Hollywood owners, and they are incredibly in with a chance of making it four successive promotions after their win at QPR on Saturday saw the team move into the play-off places.
However, Parkinson will know how important the window will be, and Wrexham are looking to strengthen in the final week.

It seems apparent that bringing in a new attacker is a priority for Wrexham, with recent reports claiming they could make a club-record move for Angers’ Sidiki Cherif - which may set Parkinson's side back some £19 million if completed.
He isn’t the only name under consideration though, as journalist Alan Nixon has revealed that Armstrong is a target for the Welsh side. It's said that the Red Dragons have the financial muscle to line up a move for Armstrong if their pursuit of Cherif falls flat, with the seasoned striker reportedly worth a hefty £15 million amid speculation surrounding his future on the south coast.
Nixon's report adds that Armstrong's wages at Southampton wouldn't be a problem for Wrexham, who are clearly intent on splashing the cash in an effort to bolster their ever-strengthening promotion ambitions.

The 28-year-old is a proven performer at this level, having won promotion with Southampton in the past, and despite their struggles this season, Armstrong has continued to score goals.
Even though he last found the net on December 9, the ex-Blackburn man is Saints’ top scorer, and only Zan Vipotnik has outscored him in the entire division.
It’s unclear whether Southampton would be open to a sale, although with Armstrong’s contract expiring in the summer of 2027, the south coast side know they may need to cash in over the next two windows in order to get a decent fee.
Given Wrexham’s rapid rise, it’s fair to say that most observers thought this would be a season of trying to consolidate in the second tier.
Instead, Parkinson and the group have been fantastic, and they have put themselves in a position where they can dream of reaching the Premier League.

We know that the owners have put serious investment into the club, and all the noises suggest they are willing to go again to try and win promotion.
On that front, Armstrong would be a superb signing, as he guarantees goals at this level, and he would be an upgrade on the striker options that Parkinson has right now.
Plus, with his movement and ability on the ball, he offers a different profile, and you could see Armstrong linking up effectively with the likes of Josh Windass and Kieffer Moore.
So, this is exactly the sort of signing that Wrexham should try to make this month, and if they do finalise a deal for Armstrong, he could make all the difference as they look to secure a top six finish.
