Wrexham owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have fronted a new club video that pokes fun at Southampton’s Spygate ahead of Saturday’s meeting.

According to Daily Echo, the skit was released by the club and shared by Reynolds, doubling as a plug for kit sponsor Firefox.

In the split script, the pair riff on online privacy and how to stop prying eyes, stressing it matters everywhere and namechecking Wrexham, Oxford, Ipswich and Middlesbrough. They present Firefox as a browser that does not sell personal data and so has no reason to spy. The gag ends with a supposed sighting of Southampton training, which turns out to be the club’s pickleball team.

It will be the clubs’ first meeting since Southampton knocked Wrexham out of last season’s Championship play-offs. Southampton had earlier won 5-1 at the Racecourse to move into the top six, then reached the Wembley final. They were later expelled and did not play the showpiece after being found to have spied on three opposition training sessions.

Southampton sit ninth in the Championship despite the division’s best current form, following a four-point deduction linked to Spygate. Wrexham are 19th and under pressure from supporters after last weekend’s 6-0 loss at West Ham.
