Wrexham striker ruled out of Southampton clash as Parkinson provides updates on two others | OneFootball

Wrexham forward Nathan Broadhead will miss Saturday’s Championship clash with Southampton and the upcoming Wales international camp after suffering a thigh injury in training.

The 28-year-old had been named in Craig Bellamy’s 28-man squad for Wales’ Nations League fixtures against Portugal, Norway and Denmark.

But Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson has confirmed Broadhead will now withdraw from the squad after picking up the problem this week.

“Broady has strained his thigh in training, which is a shame because he was training well,” Parkinson said.

“That’s going to keep him out for the weekend but there’s nothing new from that.”

Asked whether the injury would also rule Broadhead out of the Wales camp, Parkinson replied: “Yes.”

Broadhead started Wrexham’s opening three Championship matches of the season but has not featured in their last four games.

There was more positive news for Wrexham, however, with Josh Windass and Ben Sheaf both in contention to face Southampton at the Racecourse Ground.

“Josh is fine, he’s had a really good week and I’m pleased with him this week,” Parkinson added.

“I felt he needed a good week on the training ground and he’s been firing.

“Ben’s also had a good week on the training ground, which he needed also.”
