Wrexham push to sign Viking defender Henrik Falchener after bids rejected | OneFootball

Wrexham are pursuing a deal to sign Norway international centre-back Henrik Falchener from Viking Stavanger. NY Times reports that two bids have been turned down by the Norwegian champions, the latest totalling €9.5m (£8.1m) including bonuses.

Viking want to keep the 23-year-old ahead of their European campaign. They will contest the Champions League play-off round, the final qualifying phase before the 36-team league phase, and defeat would move them into the Europa League league phase.

Wrexham’s proposal would be a club-record outlay, following the £8m arrival of goalkeeper Anthony Patterson from Sunderland earlier this week.

Falchener joined Viking in 2025 from Egersunds and has won two caps for Norway. He was named in Stale Solbakken’s 26-player squad for this summer’s World Cup.

Alongside Patterson, Wrexham have signed wing-back Danny Imray from Crystal Palace and Ben Whiteman, the Preston North End captain.
