With the new deal, the women’s game is set to gain more advanced technology as the sport continues to develop and grow.

The current technology is certainly limited in England’s top two divisions.

Clubs are only able to use the equipment that they can afford and despite the upward curve in popularity of women’s football, plenty of clubs weren’t able to afford the best products.

That is all about to change now though, as the WSL and women’s Championship is set to enter a groundbreaking partnership with the biggest tech giant on the planet.

The top divisions in England will level the playing field across the board with all teams offered the same products going forward.

WSL teams will be able to use a wide range of the latest Apple products to assist performance analysis from the sidelines.

“At its core, we see this as a collaboration grounded in a shared ambition to drive meaningful transformation, and Apple has a remarkable history of revolutionising industries through its products,” said Zarah Al-Kudcy, Chief Revenue Officer of the WSL.

“That spirit of innovation deeply resonates with our aspirations for women’s football, and Apple’s products will help provide a solution for disparity in club technology access and team performance analysis. By leveraging their world-class products, we’re empowering teams with tools that can transform on-pitch performance and create a more level playing field across the leagues.”

League officials are also going to be given the latest Apple technology to help officiate, including the new Apple watch.

The WSL also went into a partnership with Kitman Labs earlier this season. Combined with Apple’s technology, the two partnerships are set to bring women’s football into the future.

Apple will help elevate women’s football

Speaking on their latest outreach partnership, Apple’s Product Marketing Manager Scott Brodrick said: “We are thrilled to be working with WSL Football and to help every player, coach, analyst and official elevate their game with Apple.

“Our aim is to enable innovation both on and off the pitch, and by placing our products into the hands of football’s most skilful athletes, we’re excited by what we can collectively achieve for women’s football.”
