The list below shows the most in-form forwards in the WSL, with players ranked based on how they have started the season.

WSL striker power rankings

5. Vivianne Miedema – Manchester City

Although she is number five on the power rankings, there is no doubting the prowess of Vivianne Miedema.

Manchester City’s forward scored seven goals in 11 games last season in a campaign riddled with injuries.

Miedema leads the top scorer list by five goals on 89, with Bethany England just behind on 83.

Although she started the season with a slow start, Miedema has scored in back to back City games to take her tally up to two for the year.

Miedema is one of only three players to have won the WSL golden boot on two occasions. The 29-year-old won both of her golden boots with Arsenal just before she moved to Manchester in 2024.

4. Alessia Russo – Arsenal

Arsenal’s Alessia Russo was one of the stars of the summer for England at Euro 2025.

Russo has started her season just how she finished last year as the forward has proved her ability to not just score goals, but create them too.

The 26-year-old already has two goals and two assists in four games this year. Three of Russo’s goal contributions came in one game as Arsenal thrashed West Ham.

There has never been any doubt over Russo’s ability and last season she proved her potential as she won her first golden boot in the WSL with 12 goals.

If Arsenal are to finally upset Chelsea and win the WSL this year, they will need Russo firing on all cylinders throughout the campaign.

With superstar forward Olivia Smith arriving in the summer for a club-record fee there is more pressure on Russo to perform this year, but she is already rising to the occasion.

3. Khadija Shaw – Manchester City

Time and time again Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw has proved that she is one of the best strikers not just in the WSL, but in the world.

Last year Shaw won the golden boot for a second consecutive year, despite injury ruling her out for a large part of the season.

The 28-year-old scored 12 goals in 14 games proving her impressive strike rate. In 2023/24, the Jamaican international netted 18 in 21 appearances.

This year has been no different for the two-time golden boot winner who has started the season with three goals in four for Manchester City, earning high praise from new manager.

Although she wasn’t able to score against Chelsea in City’s curtain raiser, Shaw netted against Brighton before scoring two from the spot against London City Lionesses.

After getting off to a quick start, Shaw is now looking to make history in becoming the first-ever three time golden boot winner int the WSL.

2. Melvine Malard – Manchester United

Nobody has started their WSL season better than the top two in our power rankings.

Manchester United’s Melvine Malard is one of two players to already be on four goals this year after as many games.

The French forward began the season out wide for United but after impressing, she is now favoured up front over Elisabeth Terland.

Th 25-year-old got off to a quick start in the first game of the season with a brace against Leicester.

Malard followed up with another two goals against London City Lionesses as she shot up to the top of the golden boot race.

The only reason Malard isn’t number one in the power rankings is because she hasn’t scored in two games and number one on the list has proved her consistency every time she steps onto the field.

1. Aggie Beever-Jones – Chelsea

Chelsea’s Aggie Beever-Jones has been in the form of her life to start this season.

The 22-year-old has scored in every game so far for the champions and she doesn’t look like slowing down any time soon.

With a goal a game to kick off the year, Beever-Jones made history in becoming the first-ever Chelsea player to score in the club’s opening four games of the campaign.

Beever-Jones hasn’t just been consistent with her scoring as she has been quick off the mark too.

All of the Lionesses goals so far have come in the first half, as she has helped Chelsea fly out of the blocks in all of their wins.

While she has been in top form, Beever-Jones has a lot of pressure on her shoulders. With Sam Kerr slowly making her return from injury this season, any slip ups from the Blues striker could see her dropped.

However as it is, Beever-Jones is keeping Kerr out of the Blues squad and she is doing it with some emphatic performances.

Honourable Mentions

There are plenty of players who could get an honourable mention this season but don’t quite make the top five.

Sam Kerr is slowly making her return from a devastating knee injury and it would be impossible to discuss the best WSL strikers without mentioning Chelsea’s superstar.

The Matilda was one of the best strikers in the world before her injury and her goal record is sensational.

Kerr has scored 58 goals in 75 WSL matches for Chelsea and she reached 100 in all competitions on her return to action at the start of this season.

Without Kerr Chelsea have still thrived as Aggie Beever-Jones has proved that she has the quality to lead the line for Sonia Bompastor.

Tottenham’s Bethany England is another honourable mention of note.

England has started her campaign off to a slow start but that coincides with Spurs’ disappointing start to the year.

The 31-year-old is vastly experienced in the top flight and with 82 goals is the second top scorer of all-time behind only Vivianne Miedema.

Although she may be past her best, England has proved time and time again that she still has the ability to play in the top division.
