A new report from COPE, as relayed by RM4 Arab, has revealed that Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso will be forced to rely on only two tactical solutions if Kylian Mbappe is ultimately ruled out of tonight’s Champions League clash against Manchester City.
The French star has become the latest major concern in an already alarming injury crisis that has placed enormous pressure on Alonso heading into what many view as a decisive match for his future.
The tension escalated when Mbappe did not participate in Tuesday morning’s training session at Valdebebas.
The forward’s absence came as a surprise, as it had been expected that he would push through his recently fractured finger to face Pep Guardiola’s side.
However, it is now understood that Mbappe is also suffering from muscular discomfort, prompting Madrid’s medical staff to carry out further tests to determine whether he can play at the Bernabéu.
His situation adds to a growing list of unavailable players; notably, eight first-team members are already expected to miss the match, leaving Alonso with limited flexibility at a time when Real Madrid can least afford instability.
Mbappe was initially seen as likely to feature despite the finger issue, but the new muscular concern has placed his participation in serious jeopardy.

Should his absence be confirmed, Alonso has narrowed his alternatives down to two options.
The first is Endrick. Although the young Brazilian has not featured at all under Alonso, he remains one of the available attacking profiles capable of playing centrally.
His lack of rhythm, however, makes this a risky move for such a high-stakes occasion.
The second scenario, tested during training, involves a significant tactical reshuffle. Vinicius Jr. would be deployed as the central striker, with Rodrygo moving to the right wing.
This adjustment would open a place in midfield for Dani Ceballos, while Federico Valverde would shift to the right-back role to cover the defensive imbalance.
With Manchester City arriving in top form after their 3-0 Premier League win over Sunderland, Real Madrid now face a crucial European night clouded by uncertainty.
All eyes will remain on Mbappe’s condition, as Alonso weighs his only two realistic pathways forward.
