Chelsea have confirmed the 27-player group that will travel to Sydney on Friday to kick off their pre-season tour of Australia and Asia.

It is only a few days until Chelsea officially begin their pre-season tour, starting with the match against A-League side Western Sydney Wanderers at Accor Stadium on Tuesday, July 28.

This will then be followed by friendly matches against Tottenham Hotspur, Juventus, AC Milan, and Malaysian side Johor Darul Ta’zim, in Australia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, and Malaysia.

Chelsea will also host Spanish side Real Sociedad at Stamford Bridge for another friendly next month, before their Premier League opener against west London neighbours Fulham at Craven Cottage on August 24.

The pre-season training itself already began earlier this month, with new manager Xabi Alonso having had the chance to work with some of the players over the last couple of weeks.

As a warm-up, Chelsea even held two practice matches behind closed doors against lower-league sides, Crawley Town and Bromley, both of which ended in a win.

For the tour, Alonso has decided to include several academy stars in his squad, including Tayo Subuloye, Landon Emenalo, Madhi Nicoll-Jazuli, and Reggie Walsh.

This will give more opportunities for Alonso to identify the academy players who could potentially be promoted to the senior side.

Several first-team players are still missing, mostly those who represented their countries in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, including new club-record signing Morgan Rogers and club captain Reece James, who both represented England.

Surprisingly, even some who were not involved in the World Cup were omitted from the travelling squad, such as Emmanuel Emegha and Geovany Quenda.

Emegha sustained a hamstring injury in the behind-closed-doors friendly against Bromley and will miss at least the first leg of the tour, while Quenda has picked up a 'small injury'.

Nicolas Jackson, Benoit Badiashile, Axel Disasi and Marc Guiu were notable absentees, as decisions over their futures are made.

They will hope to play some part of the tour as preparations continue for the upcoming campaign.

Here is the 27-man squad in full, which includes the likes of Cole Palmer, Joao Pedro and Estevao.
