Xabi Alonso is giving answers about injuries in his press conference – but we’re getting almost no information out of him.

We’re getting the hang of this now… Xabi Alonso is a master of saying nothing specific in his press conference, especially when it comes to injuries.
Today there are quite a lot of things Chelsea fans are concerned about – not least the breaking news from last night that Joao Pedro has pulled out of the Brazil squad for the upcoming international break because of injury.
That had us all very worried – he surely wouldn’t be able to play on Friday and then miss the Brazil games? That’s what we assumed, but maybe we assumed wrong.
“In terms of injuries and the squad, we are having the last training session today,” Alonso said.
“Nobody is ruled out for Friday. We will wait until tomorrow to make the final decision.”
Pushed on whether JP was training, Alonso added the very non-specific:
“We will see tomorrow if he’s ready to play and we will make a decision.”

At this stage, it still feels improbably that JP plays Brentford after removing himself from the Brazil squad. It would seriously damage his relationship with his national team, for one. It seems most likely that, once again, Alonso is just being vague to keep the opposition guessing.
It’s a little frustrating for us – but we know why he does it.
Alejandro Garnacho’s loan move to Aston Villa has started about as badly as it possible could have, and we already have fears for next summer.
Estevao has been linked with moves away from Chelsea after a lack of starts early in the season – but there’s no truth to that according to most sources.
