Yan Diomande joins Real Madrid on seven-year deal from RB Leipzig | OneFootball

Real Madrid have signed Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig on a seven-year deal to 30 June 2033, for €125m plus add-ons up to €140m that could make him the club’s costliest buy.

Talks dragged due to a dispute between his current and former agents. According to L’Équipe, Paris Saint-Germain had personal terms agreed before Madrid stepped in and convinced the Ivorian.

The package includes €10m in easily achievable bonuses and a further five million euros in tougher add-ons, with five percent of the fixed fee going to Leganés.

Leipzig paid around €20m a year ago and now sell for roughly six times that outlay. He leaves Germany after one season.

He has 46 senior club games, 10 for Leganés and 36 for Leipzig, 33 in the Bundesliga and three in the cup. With 13 Ivory Coast caps, he totals 59.

The move blends immediate help with long-term upside, and followed Bayern ringfencing Michael Olise, which left Madrid unable to open talks.

José Mourinho wants a more vertical attack, and Diomande offers pace and two-flank versatility. He should raise competition around a frontline shaped last season by Mbappé, Bellingham and Vinicius.

Both Diomande and Vinicius are represented by ROC Nation, and after a meeting yesterday indications suggest Vinicius is likely to stay despite entering his final year.

It is one of Madrid’s biggest outlays on a player still developing. Mourinho now has to turn that potential into immediate returns as the club seek to end a two-year trophy drought.
