Real Madrid have confirmed the signing of Ivory Coast winger Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig on a seven-year deal to 30 June 2033. The fee is 125 million euros plus up to 15 million in add-ons, potentially a club record.

He leaves Leipzig after one season, with five percent of the fixed fee due to Leganés. Leipzig paid about 20 million and now sell for roughly six times that outlay. L’Équipe reports PSG had a personal agreement with Diomande before Madrid stepped in.

Talks dragged on amid a dispute between his current and former agents. Madrid turned to Diomande after Bayern blocked any move for Michael Olise, the initial target, and he arrives as their headline summer addition.

Diomande has 46 senior club games, 10 for Leganés and 36 for Leipzig. With 13 Ivory Coast caps, he totals 59 senior appearances.

Madrid see present ability and future upside, in line with José Mourinho’s needs. The winger can play on either flank, offering pace and dribbling, and he increases competition in an attack led by Mbappé, Bellingham and Vinicius.

He shares representation with Vinicius, whose contract is in its final year without renewal. Agents involved were in Madrid to finalise Diomande and continue talks on the Brazilian forward.

The deal brings youth and variety, but also ranks among Madrid’s biggest outlays on a developing player. Mourinho must turn that potential into immediate output in a season when the club seek to end two years without trophies.
