Yann Gboho drove Toulouse’s quarter-final triumph at Marseille, the tie finishing 2-2 before a 4-3 shoot-out win. His display underlined steady progress this season.
L'Équipe highlights that the 25-year-old has become an all-action leader since arriving in January 2024, his exuberant celebrations belying a serious work ethic across the pitch.
Coach Carles Martinez Novell values not just his flair, with 2.7 successful Ligue 1 dribbles per match at 49.6% success, joint third and first for attempts, but also his graft in defence. He noted recent dips yet praised sharper decision-making.
That showed with his 13th-minute equaliser from a corner, a rare area of influence. Gboho said training focused on Geronimo Rulli’s tendency to spill the ball, so he attacked the far post, reacted after Charlie Cresswell’s touch and finished.
Now Toulouse’s top scorer with eight in all competitions, including six in Ligue 1, he has already set a personal season best. He says each goal brings him closer to his own target and, as an attacker, scoring is always positive.
He missed only the league draw at the Vélodrome on 29 November 2025 and is the second most used Toulouse outfield player in Ligue 1 with 1,985 minutes. Maturity has followed a penalty episode at Auxerre on 21 September, before a bench start in the 2-2 draw with Nantes. He actively seeks video edits, not just for social media.
