Yasin Ayari will miss at least one of Sweden’s forthcoming Nations League fixtures due to illness.

The Albion midfielder is among several squad members with cold-like symptoms. National team doctor Jonas Werner said: “We are taking the measures that are possible to limit the further spread of infection and are following the progress of those who have fallen ill.”

Sweden are preparing for away games against Bosnia and Herzegovina on Friday, then Romania on Monday. There is no indication yet whether the unwell players will feature in Bucharest.

Ayari had been busy in this international window, playing all but one minute of the first two matches.

Ayari, Benjamin Nygren and Gustaf Lagerbielke trained in isolation at Swedish FA headquarters near Stockholm because of cold symptoms and did not travel to Sarajevo.

Elliot Stroud and Patrik Walemar were later added to the sick list.

It appears unlikely to affect Ayari’s availability for Albion’s return to action next weekend, but they are sure to be monitoring the situation.
