The transfer window has slammed shut, and yet again we had to endure a painful and pitiful attempt on the recruitment front, in a bid to add the quality we all craved in a bid to improve the squad. This should undoubtedly be the straw that breaks the camel’s back for this current board. Incompetence doesn’t do it justice, they all need to be removed from their posts with immediate effect.

The new additions, Julian Araujo, Tomas Cavancara, Junior Adamu, Joel Mvuka, and Benjamin Arthur, all of whom happen to be loan signings, and decent additions compared to recruits in previous windows it has to be said. But once again it shows a total lack of leadership and forward planning from a bunch of shysters who are stealing a wage, and a very lucrative one at that.
Our recruitment strategy is simply nothing more than relying on our several contacts and their little black book of players, either out of favour at their respective clubs, or those who are currently unattached. Cheap and convenient would be the rightful way to describe it.

We can afford to shop in Waitrose but choose to stalk the reduced cabinet at Aldi, that sums it up in a nutshell. The reported late interest in former England man Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain sums up our approach to recruitment.
Not a single penny was spent despite a the bulging bank balance that our custodians are always crowing about. I get that we will have a new manager at the helm in the summer, but it’s all about winning the title is it not?
Celtic could be NINE points behind Hearts this evening as we face a challenging trip to Pittodrie tomorrow night. That gap was caused by decisions taken in the boardroom and their decision to appoint a manager nowhere near good enough to be given the Celtic job and with a known style of football that was totally unsuited to the squad of players that Martin O’Neill was already doing just fine with.

The Wilfried Nancy appointment remains totally unforgivable as indeed is the treatment dished out to Brendan Rodgers for calling for recruits in his final months at the club. But they didn’t want to back him believing their own lie that his expenditure on the likes of record signing Arne Engels at £11m was money wasted. Yesterday Nottingham Forest blew that out of the water with three bids, finally reaching £25m for the Belgian midfielder who is now reportedly left unhappy by their failure to allow the move to proceed.
Selling Engels for £25m is the ideal scenario but it didn’t happen because of the incompetence of the Celtic Board. They might not get so much in the summer when Engels moves on but at least this incident exposes their lies about Rodgers, peddled by that Lawwell friendly blogger listening to his masters voice.
The players who have arrived deserve our backing, and of course it makes us stronger for the run in, but that shouldn’t deflect from the board’s multiple failures, this window being yet another one of them. It should most definitely be their last.
Martin O’Neill now knows what he has to work with and will see out the season, hopefully bringing some success against the odds. If he does that is no reason for the support to accept the boardroom failings that have all come to a head this season. We need a better version of Celtic than is being delivered by these people. Ultimately the support will be responsible for delivering that.
