Yohan Démont has left RC Lens after his contract was not renewed at the off-season. The decision came after a nine-month FFF suspension for intimidating an official during a Coupe Gambardella match in December 2025.
"It is still a bit raw, I fell from a great height," he said. "You apply, and by June then July the professional clubs have already decided who will run their academies."
He told La Voix du Nord on Tuesday.
The 48-year-old former right-back made more than 300 appearances for Lens between 2005 and 2013. He then moved into coaching as assistant, reserve boss and, most recently, under-19s coach.
The federation imposed the nine-month ban for what it termed intimidating behaviour towards an official, relating to the December 2025 incident. Lens defended him at the time, but the holder of a DES diploma has not recovered from it.
Now unemployed, Démont added: "It is hard, but you have to move forward. There is no reason for it to stop now."
