Youssouf Fofana to join Lyon on season-long loan from AC Milan with option to buy | OneFootball

Lyon will finalise the loan signing of France international Youssouf Fofana on Tuesday after freeing room on the wage bill.

According to L'Équipe, discussions between Lyon, AC Milan and Fofana, announced on Monday, have concluded.

The 27-year-old midfielder will join on a one-year loan with an option to buy from the Italian club, who no longer had him in their plans.

Talks accelerated around midday once Lyon were assured they had cleared sufficient salary space through the exits of Duje Caleta-Car and Ainsley Maitland-Niles.

Lyon are expected to cover half of his wages. Under contract with Milan until June 2028, Fofana, capped 25 times with three goals, will be announced this evening once his medical is complete.
