Yunus Musah has flipped his Milan fortunes within months, and Christian Pulisic has publicly underlined his progress. According to Superdeporte, the club and United States team-mate has been impressed by Musah's start to the season.
The former Valencia player returned to AC Milan this summer after a loan at Atalanta with his future uncertain, and was among those considered for sale at San Siro. Rubén Amorim's arrival changed the picture as Musah convinced him in pre-season, stayed in Milan and gained unexpected prominence.
Pulisic said Musah had improved markedly, was playing very well and might be among Milan's best performers so far. He highlighted his midfield role for the national team, his physical strength and his dribbling.
The shift has been backed by minutes. Musah has played five Serie A matches, totalling 330 minutes, and started the first three against Torino, Venezia and Juventus. He added 90 minutes in the European opener with Benfica, making 420 minutes and four starts before the break.
Amorim initially weighed using him wide, but has now installed him in central midfield for his range, ball recoveries, line-breaking carries and verticality. He offers balance around the organiser, presses forward and speeds transitions, shown against Lazio when he came on at half-time and lifted the intensity.
At 23, he seemed close to the exit in early August, yet Amorim asked to keep him and Musah has responded with consistency. With Pulisic's endorsement, his standing at Milan has been transformed.
