Yuri Alberto says he is desperate to get back on the pitch as he nears the end of recovery from a left hamstring issue.
According to Meu Timao, Corinthians confirmed he is in physical transition and training partially with the squad, with head of medical Ricardo Galotti stating the expectation is for him to be available to face Internacional next Wednesday.
Alberto described the past two months out as difficult and said his first session back with the group was pain free. He added that the injury has healed and vowed to give everything to help change the team’s fortunes over the run-in.
The forward has not played since 30 July, when he came on in the second half of a goalless draw with Athletico Paranaense at Neo Química Arena in the Brasileirão. He lasted under 30 minutes before feeling discomfort and being withdrawn, yet remains Corinthians’ top scorer this season with eight goals.
His absence extended after a setback while recovering from a right hamstring problem. He missed the quarter-final ties that ended the club’s Libertadores campaign, and an initial plan had targeted a return after the FIFA break. He now has almost a week to get ready and return as an option for Fernando Diniz, with Internacional hosting on 7 at 19:30 at Beira-Rio in the 29th round.
