Yuri out of Espanyol trip, Maroan Sannadi back in squad

Athletic have named a 23-man squad for the trip to Barcelona to face Espanyol on Wednesday at 19:00, but Yuri Berchiche misses out injured.

The club said in a statement that the left-back has a contusion to the fibula in his left leg and will be monitored, so he is unavailable for the RCDE Stadium fixture.

His absence opens the door on the left to options such as Adama Boiro or Lekue, with a key game for their European ambitions ahead.

Maroan Sannadi returns to the first-team squad for the first time since the Getafe match on five April, after five consecutive omissions from Valverde’s plans.

The squad are due to depart from Loiu at 19:00 today and arrive in Barcelona at around 20:45.

They will stay at the Hyatt Regency Barcelona Tower as they prepare for matchday 36 of LaLiga.
