Zachary Athekame ‘to be eligible’ for OL at Fenerbahçe play-off | OneFootball

According to L’Équipe, OL’s Swiss right-back Zachary Athekame, 21, on a season-long loan from AC Milan, will be eligible for Tuesday’s Champions League play-off first leg at Fenerbahçe.

He was not on the initial list submitted to UEFA, but the regulations allow late additions for the play-offs. Under article 31.10, clubs may add up to two players to list A after the deadline if homegrown rules are respected and registration is completed by 23:59 on the eve of the first leg. The national association must also confirm in writing that the player is eligible domestically.

Athekame’s arrival was only made official on Saturday, with Lyon’s wage bill restricted by the DNCG, while OL had to submit their squad list on Thursday.

The defender could therefore make his OL debut on Tuesday in Türkiye, with the return scheduled for 26 August.

Another recent signing yet to feature, Austrian defender Felix Bacher, is included on the list sent to UEFA.
