Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos says the upcoming international friendly against Zambia will gauge his team's readiness ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) next month.
South Africa will host Chipolopolo at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday, as part of their preparations for the continental showpiece in Morocco.
Though the clash is a friendly, the Belgian mentor urged his troops to bring their A-game, dispelling any form of complacency in camp.
“I think the most important thing for Saturday is that we play a good game and we play on our level like we did in the previous years. I don't remember when last did we play a friendly game but it's quite a long time - all the other games were qualifiers,” said Broos.
"So the concentration and focus is easier to do than before a friendly game, that's why I started this press conference by saying for me this is not a friendly game. I want to see again Bafana Bafana that I saw in the last months and years.
"I want to see a team with a good mentality, who want to win every game, who is going for every ball, for every meter and that is something I want to see.
Broos went on to state that the match is not for improving certain aspects of his team but to determine exactly how good his charges are.
“What can we improve? You can always improve but I don't think you take a friendly game to improve something - not at this moment. This is a game to confirm again how good we are and what a good team we are and that's the confirmation I want to see on Saturday,” he added.
