Feyenoord beat NEC Nijmegen 3-1 at Goffertstadion on Saturday to rise from fourth to second in the Eredivisie.
Gjivai Zechiël opened the scoring in the 52nd minute, finishing Nacho Ferri's pass. Darko Nejasmic equalised (55.). Luciano Valente restored the lead from Zechiël's cut-back (61.) before substitute Jerayno Schaken swept in a third, again teed up by Zechiël (64.).
Tjark Ernst denied Kaj Sierhuis with a first half header, while Gonzalo Cretazz kept out Ferri just after the restart. Schaken's introduction sharpened Feyenoord in transition and he struck within minutes of coming on.
NEC Nijmegen saw plenty of the ball at home but struggled for punch after levelling. Zechiël's goal and two assists turned the game decisively in the visitors' favour.
NEC had 62% possession yet produced only two shots on target from 12 attempts. Feyenoord were far more clinical, hitting six of their 11 attempts on target.
Zechiël is now on four league goals, top of the Eredivisie scoring chart. Next, NEC host Excelsior in the league, while Feyenoord visit Barcelona in the Champions League.
