Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) is edging closer to the appointment of Irish manager Chris Hughton as the new head coach.
The 66-year-old mentor is currently unattached after he was relieved of his duties by Ghana national team in January 2024.
Hughton is understood to have applied for the vacant post, alongside former Tottenham Hotspurs manager Harry Redknapp, among others high-profile coaches.
Information reaching this publication is that talks between ZIFA and Hughton are at an advanced stage, with both parties optimistic about striking an agreement.
Foot Africa understands the ex-Newcastle United, Brighton & Hove Albion, and Norwich City boss has been offered a two-year contract.
A well-placed source close to the matter disclosed that only finer details on bonuses and exit clauses are left to be ironed out.
The Zimbabwe national team head coach position became vacant following the sacking of Michael Nees for a string of poor results.
ZIFA is under pressure to install a permanent head coach that will oversee proceedings at the upcoming Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco in December.
